Welcome to the Jagannath Society of California (JSC). JSC is a Non-profit organization based in Southern California. The mission of JSC is to coordinate, promote and conduct activities that are related to humanitarian, educational, spiritual and cultural heritage of Indian-Americans. As the primary objective of JSC is to preserve and propagate Odia culture, we organize all important Odia festivals like Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja , Rojo, Durga puja, Diwali etc in the manner they are performed in Orissa. To create a feeling of homeliness and reduce the fear of forgetting our own traditions, culture and social traits, we arrange frequent social get-togethers of Odia families. We organize bi-yearly picnics where the members not only get occasions to meet each other and change pleasantries, but also have the pleasure of getting typical Odia food. Our goal is to preserve our heritage and promote it among people, locally and globally. Please visit this site often to get up-to-date news about a variety of activities taking place in the Southern California Odia Community.
We, the members of Jagannath Society of California(JSC) have migrated from various parts of Odisha and have settled in Southern California as a community. We have come together as a family to carry on the traditions of our homeland and to pass the Odia culture to the future generations. Our mission is to make it possible for the members of our family to stay together and celebrate the traditions that we have grown up watching in Odisha. Through out the year we put together many different festivals of Odisha. For many years, we have made sure to celebrate Ganesh Puja, Durga Puja, Diwali, and Saraswati Puja in order to keep our children intertwined with the festivities of our beliefs. Along with the different Pujas, we join togther for pakhala party, annual picnic, and other get togethers so that we can assure that our children will keep the connections to the Odia community. Also to preserve our Odia language and culture we have put together an Odia School, Chatashali, for our second generations. This year we are proud to announce that Lord Jagannath has brought his blessings to be with us in Southern California. We will be hosting Ratha Yatra for the fourth time at the 1882 McGaw Avenue, Irvine, CA on july 9th, 2016.
